The house and surroundings
a medieval sacred village
The "Sagrera de Sant Sadurní de Salelles" is a small medieval town with origins in the 11th century.

A period of struggle in which, appliying unrestrained violence, the nobles rebelled against the kings law in order to take the land from free peasants and subject them into servitude. The church used its influence and set a new norm: Sagrera or Sacred land. The area of 30 paces arround churches was deemed inviolable. The peasants started to build their houses and cellars attached to the churches to get protection and small medieval villages sprouted arround them.
